  • Þingvellir National Park is one of Iceland’s most important natural and historical sites. Located in a dramatic rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, it’s a place where you can literally walk between continents. Þingvellir is also the birthplace of Iceland’s parliament, established in 930 AD, making it a key cultural landmark. Today, it’s part of the Golden Circle and is known for its stunning landscapes, including lava fields, clear springs, and the famous Silfra fissure.

  • The Geysir Geothermal Area is a famous hot spring area in southwest Iceland, located in the Haukadalur valley. It’s home to the original Great Geysir, which gave all geysers their name, and the highly active Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes, shooting boiling water up to 20–30 meters into the air. The area is filled with bubbling mud pools, steaming vents, and colorful mineral deposits, making it one of Iceland’s most exciting natural attractions.

  • Gullfoss is one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls, located on the Hvítá river in southwest Iceland. It features a powerful two-tiered cascade that plunges into a rugged canyon, often creating mist and rainbows on sunny days. As a key stop on the Golden Circle, Gullfoss is famous for its dramatic beauty and sheer force, making it a must-see natural attraction.

  • Kerið is a striking volcanic crater located in southwest Iceland along the Golden Circle. It is known for its vivid red volcanic slopes and a bright blue lake at the bottom. Formed around 3,000 years ago, Kerið is one of the best-preserved crater lakes in Iceland, and visitors can walk around the rim or down to the water’s edge.
